Domestic Care

A standard Domestic Care service aims to ensure the home is clean, hygienic and safe and may include:

  • Cleaning of bathroom and toilet areas
  • Sweeping or vacuuming and mopping of hard flooring
  • Vacuuming of carpet areas
  • Changing of bed linen
  • Washing, hanging, folding and ironing of clothes and linen
  • Washing dishes and wiping bench tops

Of-course variations are expected for different people in different situations.

Like all healthcare professionals practices are governed by WorkSafe guidelines.

  • The No Lift Policy applies. This means that Careworkers are not allowed to lift anything heavier than 5 kgs. eg a kitchen chair can be moved to mop the floor, but not a couch to vacuum behind it.
  • Careworkers cannot use chemicals that are toxic with prolonged exposure such as bleach.
