Personal Care services extend beyond the usual expectation of helping someone to have a shower and get dressed for the day. As required and according to the Care Plan, the Careworker supervises or assists the setting up for and completing showering, washing, drying and dressing. Grooming is an important part of maintaining self esteem and dignity, therefore, for example, Careworkers can assure that clients are appropriately dressed (for the weather or day’s events). Careworkers will always ensure that the bathroom is left dry and safe. If continence is an issue, this will be addressed with a change of linen, night attire and incontinence pads and laundering if required.
Supervision of or assistance with Breakfast can also be included in Personal Care, including the tidying of the kitchen after breakfast.
Another aspect of Personal Care may be Nutrition and Hydration Care.
